Concept Development
This is a character piece I designed and commissioned depicting a character for a story I'm writing. The design uses the color palette of blue, yellow, and red, which is commonly used in the designs of heroic characters. Such a palette fits nicely because this character appears to be a good person at first glance, even though she's really not. I tried to use color somewhat sparingly and stick to relatively desaturated colors when designing this character, so it would not be too colorful or intense to be visually appealing.
This is another piece by a different artist, also based on a character design I came up with. I used a warm color palette to give the design a vibrant and energetic feel. I also used lots of white to give the character a look of innocence and purity, which I think contrasts nicely with the sense of passion and danger that the red imparts.
